Someone suggested this should also be used to track black leaders etc who are attacking Obama. I think that's a great idea. So it's not just Clinton stuff. And it is NOT just racial stuff, though that was the original inspiration. Don't forget to "SAVE" the page after you edit it

 

Welcome Message

Welcome to the Clinton Attacks Obama wiki.

 

This is an experiment in community information gathering. My name is Baratunde Thurston. I'm a comedian, writer and social media junkie. As a contributor for Jack & Jill Politics, I've seen the strong black community reaction to what looks like a pattern of race-themed attacks against Obama by Bill, Hillary and other members of her campaign. As folks have questioned the number and validity of these incidents, I thought I'd put together a place to keep track of them.

Blog posts are not good places to keep a running list, and I'm too busy to do it all by myself, so like a multinational corporation, I'm outsourcing this bad boy.

 

This presidential campaign is unprecedented in its ability to have either an extremely constructive or destructive conversation about race. I don't have much faith in America's ability to get it right, but this is my attempted contribution to more civil discourse.

Rules / Procedures

 

  1. Try to stick to verifiable information as much as possible
  2. Keep the language clean
  3. My role is as community editor. If things get out of hand, I may lock the page. If it gets to wordy, I may trim it down.
  4. Try to stick to the template, but expand if necessary

 

How to Edit

 

  • You will need a password to edit the page. the password: 2008
  • It's like a basic word processor, so just look to the menu for editing tools
  • All incidents are tracked on the Incident Tracker page. That's where you'll want to start. Just click the big "Edit Page" button at the top of that page to get started
  • I've started one on the drug dealer comment, feel free to edit it
  • You don't need to add new incidents. If you think details are wrong or missing, just edit it to make it better

plus find it on YouTube and you can embed it. The rightmost option in the menu is "insert plugin" and you can choose a video embed
Context who was the person talking to. what was he or she trying to say. was it in answer to a question? it's easy to take folks's comments out of context. we shouldn't have to do that.
Racialiciousness

Name inspired by the blog. How racist was the statement and why. Possible levels

  • Low - could be just oversensitive black folks
  • Medium - undeniable racist overtones
  • High - oh, it's on now.
  • Return to slavery - some ol 1950s type ish
Wackness

This wiki was started because of the racial tones, but there are other just plain wack attacks that have nothing to do with race. Possible levels:

  • Low
  • Medium
  • High
Links Here put links to media coverage, historical context (like the definition of "shuck n jive" or other relevant outside
Latest Status how has the incident been resolved? did the speaker resign? has clinton apologized? did Bill apologize to Jesse or Al yet?

    vwcat:This is from MYDD. It has a post about someone who attended a rally with Bill Clinton. clinton then made the following comments that were later denied by David Axelrod and really upset him. The comments were as follows: He went more pointedly after Obama as well, saying "let me address this 'new politics business.' I got a taste of these new politics today" and he went on to cite a new radio ad in northern Nevada that is urging Republicans to register as a Democrat for a day to beat Hillary. "Doesn't sound like new politics to me." He also mentioned that he and Chelsea were approached in a hotel by workers who insisted they were voting for Hillary no matter what the union said. He went on to say that some of these workers were threatened with a new shift that wouldn't allow them to caucus if they indeed were to buck the union's endorsement.
